Overview of Everest High Passes Trek – 21 days

Everest High Passes Trek is one of the most difficult and challenging trekking trails in the Everest region. The highlight of the Everest Three Passes trek includes a visit to the Everest Base Camp, Gokyo valley, and Kala Patthar. The trek provides a breathtaking view of the Himalayan landscapes. Everest High Passes Trek also provides you an opportunity to visit Kongma-La Pass (5,535 m), Chola-La pass (5,420 m), and Renjo La pass (5,360 m).

The journey of the Everest High Passes Trek starts from Lukla. We will part ways with trekkers to Everest Base Camp and other routes in the Everest region from Namche Bazaar. We will cross the Bhotekoshi river and reach Thame valley. Thame is a beautiful village of the Sherpa people. There are ancient Buddhist monasteries in Thame. Thame is also known as the birthplace of mountaineers.

We will head towards Lungden from Thame. The walk takes 4-5 hours. Upon reaching Renjo La Pass, you will see an amazing view of Gokyo village with blue lakes and beautiful glaciers. Mountains like Makalu, Cholatse, Tabuche, Lobuche, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyu and Thamserku are in close view.Once we cross this pass, we will have to walk 3-4 hours to reach Gokyo valley (4,750 m / 15,583 ft). There are five beautiful lakes in the Gokyo valley. The valley provides a stunning panoramic view of peak Gokyo Ri (5,386 m / 17,670 ft). The place is also famous for watching birds.

We will head for Cho La Pass from Gokyo. Cho La Pass provides a marvelous view of snow-capped mountains. Everest Base Camp is two days of a trek away from Cho La Pass. After exploring Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar, we will head towards Kongma La Pass. We can enjoy spectacular views of mountain peaks like Mt.Thamserku, Mt. Amadablam, and Mt. Kongtega from Kongma La Pass. Beautiful glacial lakes are other highlights of the place. Everest High Passes Trek gives you a lifetime of memorable experiences.

Everest High Passes Trek – Important Notes and Safety 
If your flight is canceled, we will attempt to get you on a chartered helicopter, but you are responsible for the extra costs which can range from $200-$600 or more depending on the number of people on the flight.

We suggest that you add a couple of extra days at the end (never at the start) of your trip in case of any delays.

Trekking is not just walking. Some of our trips are extremely adventurous. We kindly request you to come well prepared before these extreme treks. Buying proper and reliable insurance coverage with Helicopter Evacuation in an emergency is the most important thing before starting the adventures. For serious injuries or sickness, Helicopters can be the only means of evacuation.

Detail Itinerary

Our staff will be waiting for you at Tribhuvan International Airport. We will take you to your hotel after arrival. At the end of the day, our manager will brief you about the plan and introduce you to our guide. If Time Permit you will be welcomed with delicious traditional Nepali dinner in the evening.

 

Today you will have rest day after your long journey to Nepal. this days you might busy some equipment if you do not have sufficient for mountain and get prepare for trek to Hight Mountain. If you want to visit some temple you might do as well. Late Afternoon introduce with your guide and explain about trek and program.

We will fly to Lukla in the morning. The flight takes about 30 minutes. After arriving at Lukla, you will meet your guide and porter (only if booked from the beginning). They will welcome you with warm and delicious breakfast.

After having our breakfast, we will start our journey towards Phakding. You will see Dudhkoshi river and Thado Khola on the way. The trek provides an amazing view of typical Sherpa villages and traditional agricultural farms.

We will head towards the beautiful Namche Bazaar from Phakding. Namche Bazaar is known as the gateway to Everest. It is a beautiful and modern village. We will cross the Dudh Koshi river multiple times today.

We will reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park after going past a place called Monjo. Sagarmatha National Park was formed to protect and conserve the flora and fauna of the Himalayan region. Your trekking permits will be checked here.

You will see a clear view of peaks like Kusum Kangaru, Lhotse and Tawache from here. Namche Bazaar will be on sight after trekking for 3 hours from Monjo.

 

Today is a rest day for acclimatization. You can explore Namche Bazaar. You can also consult with your guide on how to spend the day. You can visit the Everest View Point Hotel. The hotel provides panoramic view of mountain peaks like Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Kusum Kangaru. You can also pay a visit to the Sherpa museum and learn about the life and culture of the Sherpa people.

 

We will trek towards Thame along the trails of Bhote Koshi river. We will walk through beautiful forest of pine and rhododendron. You can see an ancient mud plastered stupa at Phurte. We will then go past Tesho and Thamo. There is a monastery in Thamo called Thamo Gompa.

After crossing Thamo, the trail drops steeply towards the Khumbu Hydroelectric Project Plant. It’s a short walk to Thame from here. Thame is situated at the end of the Khumbu region. Thame is untouched and unharmed by the effects of modern civilization.

We will trek to Lungden today. We will first head for Tarngga, which is at a gentle stroll from Thame. We will then cross Marulung (4,200 m) on the east bank of Bhotekoshi. You will reach Lungden after walking through a narrow valley clogged with giant boulders. We will walk slowly because it gets more difficult to gain altitude the higher up we go.

 

We will have our breakfast and head for Gokyo lake. We will go past Renjo La Pass on our way. Renjo La Pass is a very beautiful place. And one of amazing view point as well.

when you Arrive to the Renjo La Pass, you will be able to see the panoramic views of high Mountain like Mt. Everest (8848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Makalu (8463m), and Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m). and also you may see The largest glacier in Himalaya (ngozumpa glacier) You will also see Gokyo Lake (Dudh Pokhari) and the Gokyo village lies alongside this lake. The path then descends from the pass and you entering the Gokyo Valley, but you have to be careful because the trail might be icy and slippery.

 

We will enjoy a short hike to Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) today. The hike takes about 2 hours. On the way, you will see traditional prayer flags of the Sherpas. You will see the biggest glacier of Nepal – Ngozumpa glacier – from the top of Gokyo Ri.

You will also see a stunning view of Thonak Tsho and Ngozuma Tsho lake from here. You will also encounter the breathtaking view of peaks like Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang (7,922 m), Everest, Lhotse and Makalu.

todayin the afternoon free to rest here or if you want to visit around you may go some hikes to 5th lake.

 

After spending the night at Gokyo Lake, we will trek towards Thangnak. The journey is short, requiring only 3-4 hours of walk. This will help us preserve energy for the next day’s trek, which is long and tiring. The trail provides beautiful view of Gokyo lake. We will then cross the Ngozumpa glacier . We will reach Thangnak after a downhill walk from Gokyo.

 

 

This path is longer in comparison to previous days. If weather condition is good, then you can walk past Cho La pass in simple warm clothes. The path is mostly level and requires no special equipment at the time of good weather. We will get wonderful view of mountains like Amadablam, Cholatse, Lobuche East and Baruntse from Cho La Pass. We will spend our night at Dzongla after a tiring journey.

 

The path from Dzongla to Lobuche follows a narrow trail between snowy peaks, which are almost in touching distance. There are many mountain streams on your way. The trail provides you a clear view of Cholatse and Amadablam peak. You will encounter Dughla lake on your way. It takes almost 4-5 hours of walk to reach Lobuche. You can enjoy the spectacular view of Taboche and Nuptse peak from Lobuche.

We will start our journey after breakfast. The first part of the journey with glacial moraine and mountain walls. The path starts to become beautiful from here as the air starts to become thin due to high altitude. Walking on a glacier is exciting. We need to take careful steps. We will enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Pumori and Mt. Nuptse.

We will have our lunch in Gorakshep and we leave our belongings at guesthouse and  resume our trek towards Everest Base Camp. There are rocky dunes, moraines and mountain streams on our way. Upon reaching the Everest Base camp, we will enjoy and explore the surroundings for a few moment and then head back to Gorakshep.

The best time to visit Kalapatthar is in the morning. It takes about 2 hours. The early hours provide clear view of the mountains. Kalaptthar provide stunning panoramic view of mountain peaks like Mt Everest, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and Mt. Thamserku. After we back to Guest house in Gorakshep take Breakfast and  prepare to back down to Lobuche for overnight stay.

 

The path is flatter compared to previous days. We will enter a wide-basin where you can see many frozen lakes. Then the trail moves towards Kongma La Pass. There are many traditional Sherpa prayer flags in the area.

The path goes downhill from here until we reach Niyang Khola valley. The view of Island Peak and Ampu Lapcha (5,845 m) are stunning. We will reach Chukung in the evening.

 

Today is we can climb Chhukung Ri but it i s optional , If you are interest to go hike for This peak it takes 4-5 hours go and back. But if you do not do this hike then after breakfast we Head to Pangboche.

We will follow the trails of Imja Khola (stream) and trek through Dingboche. You will encounter the alpine pastures in the Kharkas of Tsura, Orsho and Shomare. The village of Pangboche, the highest year round settlement in the valley, is a beautiful resting spot. You will get a wonderful view of mountain peaks like Mt. Amadablam (6,856 m), Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m) and Mt. Lhotse (8,501 m) from the top of the valley. We will then visit ancient Buddhist monasteries in Khumbu region.

 

We will return back to Namche Bazaar today. Via Tengboche. Tengboche is beautiful place to rest and here is huge Buddhist Monastery. It is famous all over.  after some rest and visit Monastery we will continue to trek down to Phunki Thanga and start up uphill. We will meet the intersection of three roads at Kyanjuma – road to Gokyo valley, road to Khumjung village and road to Namche Bazaar.

We will reach Namche Bazaar in the evening. We will explore around if we have enough time.

The trek to Lukla can be troublesome because the path is mostly downhill. The downward steps can create a pain on your knees. Once you cross the Dudh Koshi river, the path will start to become flat and easy. We walk through rhododendron and pine forest up to Phakding. Once we reach Lukla, you can explore the magnificent surroundings and rest of the time free for you.You can shop souvenirs for your loved ones at Lukla

You will say goodbye to your porters and local guides. After that, we will catch our flight to Kathmandu. . Once we reach Kathmandu, you will be transported to your respective hotels.

 

Today is a free day in Kathmandu in our Itinerary . It is also Contingency incase cancel fight from Lukla to Kathmandu during weather conditions. Today you might take rest or shopping.

But if you want to some sightseeing tour we can organize it. let us know about it.

You will be dropped off by our representative at Tribhuvan International Airport following a traditional Nepali farewell ceremony.
