Overview of Panchase Trek – 4 days

Panchase Trek is one of the hidden gems of trekking in Nepal. It is a relatively less explored route, attracting only a few visitors. The route is shorter, easier, and suitable for all types of trekkers – families, elderly people, etc.

The Panchase trekking route lies in an area that is sacred to Hindus. Many Hindus visit Panchase during their major festivals. Gurungs are the main inhabitants of the area. They grow millet, barley, rye, buckwheat, etc. as staple crops. Fruits are also aplenty.

The villagers are as hospitable as they are hardworking. It is the Nepali tradition to honor guests as gods. Staying nights with the local people will be an unforgettable affair. They serve home-cooked food, made entirely of local organic produce, and exotic drinks. Cultural shows will follow the evening dinner.

The best time to visit Panchase is from September to June when there is little chance of rain. Pokhara and its surrounding area receive the highest rainfall in Nepal. Leeches are common in wet seasons, therefore it is advisable to avoid wet seasons. The view of the mountains of Panchase is wonderful. You will see Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna, Gangapurna, Manaslu, and other peaks in full glory.

Before attending the most challenging trekking route like the Ghorepani poon hill trek, Annapurna circuit, and Annapurna Base Camp in the Annapurna region have a great and pleasure trip to Panchase.

Equally enchanting is the view of Pokhara valley from various places on the trek. The Phewa lake and Pokhara look glorious from up above. The trek region also possesses a diverse richness of flora and fauna. It is flower heaven and nearly 50 species of orchids are indigenous to the region alone.

Detail Itinerary

We Will  boat across the Phewa lake and then hike up towards Bhumdi via the World Peace Pagoda. Or, you can drive up to Thado Khola and then hike towards Bhumdi. We will follow whatever you like.

Bhumdi is a small and beautiful Gurung village. The view of the mountains are spectacular from Bhumdi. The local people prepare wonderful food and the homestay experience with them is unforgettable.

We will have a lovely hike across the green Rhododendron and Pine forests today. The forests are dense and possess a rich diversity of flora and fauna. Rhododendron is the national flower of Nepal and when it is in full bloom, the entire forest goes red. At a place called Thulochaur (meaning big ground), the forest clears up and provides a perfect resting spot.

We will be able to view the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Ganesh, Manaslu, Gangapurna and other peaks in full clarity from places leading up to Panchase Bhanjyang. Panchase Bhanjyang is mainly settled by the Gurung people. We will enjoy a wonderful night stay in Panchase Bhanjyang tonight.

We will wake up early in the morning and climb the stone steps leading to Panchase peak. The peak is 435 m higher in altitude compared to Panchase Bhanjyang. At 2,500 m, it is also the highest point in our trek and the best place to view the mountains.

After enjoying spectacular mountain view and sunrise from Panchase peak, we will descend down to Panchase Bhanjyang again. We head to Bhadaure, another Gurung village, from here. The trek to Bhadaure is heavenly – passing through pine, oak and rhododendron forests that is frequented by waterfalls and occasionally showing rare animals.

We will leave Bhadaure behind and head to Sarangkot. The walk normally takes 4-5 hours. Sarangkot is on the outer rim of Pokhara valley and is a popular destination for paragliding, flying kites and watching view from This Sarangkot peak. It is also a famous place for mountain watching. Sarangkot provides wonderful view of the mountains in the Annapurna and nearby mountain ranges. Mountains like Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail), Annapurna II and Lamjung are viewed wonderfully from Sarangkot. And After Lunch in Sanrangkot we visit View Point and take private transport to Pokhara.
